The Agatha Awards honor the traditional, "cozy" mystery. That is to say, books best typified by the works of Agatha Christie. Agatha Awards are given for materials first published in the United States by a living author during the calendar year 2014 (January 1-December 31), either in hardcover, as a paperback original, or e-published by an e-publishing firm.<p>"Hard-Boiled" fiction is not considered, nor is any work with gratuitous violence or explicit sex.<p>Awards are given in six categories: Best Novel; Best First Mystery; Best Historical Novel; Best Short Story; Best Non-Fiction; Best Children’s/Young Adult Mystery.
