High Plains BookFest
Dates: Oct 18, 2018 - Oct 20, 2018
Over the last twelve years, the High Plains BookFest has served to praise and define the literary output of a vast and diverse region of the country, growing steadily in the number of books nominated and awards presented to regional authors. The theme of this year’s festival, “Border Crossing,” highlights our region’s international connections, “culturally exploring the differences in perspective” between Canada and the U.S., according to Corby Skinner, who coordinates the festival. One-third of this year’s book nominations come from Canadian authors, while others hail from as far as Texas. In many ways, the festival has and always will be about cross-border connections, showing that the power of land and livelihood will always be more fundamental than a fabricated line in the dirt.
