At Franklin/Kerr, authors have our full attention. Once we accept a manuscript for publication we work with the author each step of the way to produce a well-tuned book ready for the world to devour. This includes getting input from the author on cover design, marketing materials and providing professional editing, formatting, e-book setup and more at no cost to the author. We ask that authors take a proactive role in their book′s success and allow us to take the literary journey along with them.
Insomniac has developed special niche areas in which it publishes unique books. For example, its black studies books, gay and lesbian books, personal finance books, celebrity writer-as-musician books (including titles by Matthew Good, Jann Arden and Terri Clark), and gay mysteries have developed devoted followings.

We consider fiction and non-fiction in a variety of genres, although our special emphasis (and expertise ) is publishing mysteries, crime fiction, suspense, police procedurals, and books by and about other public safety personnel.

Peter Owen sadly died in May 2016, but his legacy lives on in the publishing house that carries his name and his commitment to publishing talented and exciting writers.

The house is currently in the process of the most aggressive expansion in its history.
Our focus on genre fiction, like science fiction, westerns, and mysteries, means that our stories feature more action and adventure than most lesbian publishers and gay publishers. Many of our books and eBooks feature kick-ass heroines. This means that violence often accompanies them. Our books are not always for the squeamish.
