The Rhysling Awards, named after the blind poet from Robert A. Heinlein’s short story The Green Hills of Earth, honor exceptional poetry in science fiction. Nominees are selected by the Science Fiction Poetry Association's members, who can nominate one work in two categories: Best Long Poem (50–299 lines; prose poems 500–1,999 words) and Best Short Poem (11–49 lines; prose poems 101–499 words). Eligible works must be published in the year prior to the awards.
