Teen Bookfest by the Bay is a non-profit organization formed by a group of Corpus Christi Bay area school and public librarians for the express purpose of planning and providing an annual book festival for area teens. Librarians from school and public libraries in Corpus Christi, Orange Grove, Bishop, Aransas Pass, Gregory-Portland, Rockport, Robstown, and other local areas are taking part. Membership currently consists of librarians and educators, but is open to anyone who values life-long learning and creativity in writing. The book festival is an educational event where teens can meet published authors, learn about the writing/publishing process, and interact with their favorite writers. In the past, many librarians have traveled with teens to other book festivals in Texas, the nearest of which is a 3-hour drive from Corpus Christi. The goal of Teen Bookfest by the Bay is to bring that opportunity to students in the Corpus Christi Bay area who are unable to make that trip. The main activity of the organization is the annual Teen Bookfest by the Bay. It is a one day event held in February every year, starting in 2015. Money for Teen Bookfest by the Bay is raised through individual and corporate donations and grants.
