The Maxwell Medallion writing contest is open to all writers, editors, publishers, photographers, artists and others whose work falls into the designated competition categories, which include newspaper, blog postings and magazine columns or articles on canine health, training, rescue or other topics; as well as short stories and poetry.

Book categories include reference, mystery, children’s and non-fiction genres.

Entrants do not have to be DWAA members, but work must be published in print or online.
