Open to unpublished or self-published writers, with no traditionally published books for any age, and not currently under contract with a traditional publisher. Entries can be up to 1,500 words. Every entry gets a written evaluation by a traditionally published CANSCAIP Member volunteer. Entries advancing to the second round get another evaluation, and entries on the shortlist get evaluations by each jury member.
