The NBWC is dedicated to the exploration of emerging themes, trends and issues in Black American literature. It attracts writers, scholars, editors, agents, faculty, students, and the general public. It seeks to address the themes of stereotypes in Black literature, the direction of Black literature, as well as the renaissance in Black literature. It also seeks to expand conversations on race, identity, history, and genre.
