Founded by Philip Slayton and Cynthia Wine, the festival was launched to introduce celebrated Canadian authors and emerging writers to a beautiful part of the world and so their friends, neighbours, and community could meet and hear from authors firsthand.

The festival brings readers and writers together in the intimate setting of the historic Meeting House, with an opportunity for interaction after each event. The after-event takes place at the Port Medway FireHall with food and drink and books on offer.
