IBBY Canada is one of more than 70 National Sections of the International Board on Books for Young People ( IBBY ), a non-profit organization that was founded in the wake of World War II by Jella Lepman. This remarkable woman believed in the power of children's books to bridge cultures and, ultimately, to promote peace.

By becoming a member of IBBY Canada, you can contribute to this noble cause and help connect children and books in Canada and around the world. Some of the initiatives that your membership will fund include:
1) Readers and Refugees Program: This program aims to provide books to children who have been displaced due to conflict or natural disasters.
2) Indigenous Picture Book Collection: IBBY Canada is committed to promoting Indigenous literature by creating a collection of picture books that reflect the diverse cultures and experiences of Indigenous peoples.
3) IBBY Children in Crisis Fund: This fund supports projects that provide books and literacy programs to children affected by crises such as war, poverty, or natural disasters.
As an IBBY member, you will also have the opportunity to volunteer at events and serve on award and project committees.
