Center for Fiction

The Center for Fiction is the only nonprofit literary organization in the U.S. that is exclusively dedicated to celebrating fiction. Every day, we strive to connect readers and writers. We are known for our special literary events, which include innovative panels, lectures, conversations, and performances.

To support emerging writers, we offer Fellowships and host Writing Workshops. We also run Reading Groups focused on both classic and contemporary fiction to help readers discover their next favorite author. Our KidsRead/KidsWrite program provides free books and hosts events for New York City students from kindergarten through twelfth grade, encouraging kids to read. Additionally, we offer summer writing workshops for aspiring young authors.
